Elections over ...politics just started..

The elections are over, and the real politics have started. It is an unusual outcome. Those who lost are happy, and those who won are unhappy. BJP’s numbers surprised even the opposition. What a lengthy exercise in the world’s largest democracy! More or less, it went very smoothly. Every Indian deserves appreciation for exercising their right to vote.

The results of Uttar Pradesh surprised everyone. Analysts have provided various reasons for this outcome. One was the caste narrative, reservation, and jobs. If this were the case, it should have been reflected across the other Hindi belt states as well. The second reason was the promise of freebies and 1 lakh per woman. This did not resonate either, because if it had, it should have been reflected across other states of India, at least in Delhi. However, everyone saw what happened in Delhi. Despite all the efforts from global deep state actors, Indian Deep State actors, left liberals, woke movements, negative social media campaigns, money, and manpower, the entire opposition put together could not match BJP’s individual tally.

I am not sure what else is left to dislodge BJP as the single largest party. I feel BJP just missed the magic number due to its own faults: complacency, too much reliance on Modi, lack of an active serious campaign, and poor social media management. Another reason could be that BJP took its time to counter some of the narratives set by RG, like ‘Khata khat, Khata Kat’, freebies, “Aarakshan Hatadenge,” and “Samvidaan Badaldenge.” Modiji was doing all the heavy lifting. Had every BJP karyakarta put in the same effort as Annamalai and Madhavi Latha, things might have been different. I know these two have lost, but no one can discount their effort.

The problem the BJP is currently facing is of its own making. The narrative “Ab Ki Baar 400 Par” not only diverted the opposition but also many BJP voters, karyakartas, and middle-class supporters. It shows how wrong it is to celebrate before winning. As I said in the beginning, the real politics will unfold in the next few days. I am happy that democracy and EVMs both survived and that even the losers are happy. It is going to be a coalition government, whoever makes it, and a warm-up for another election very soon. Get ready with your slogans. Until then, Chanakya can revisit his strategy. My only request to the ECI is to conduct the polls during winter next time. Those who will pull down support to the coalition government should also keep this in mind.
